Basil is typically used in pasta or pizzas, but today we'll be making pesto. This classic basil pesto is a sauce that can be eaten with meat, fish, vegetables, or even as a dip on its own.
Feel free to throw this into any of your dishes to give it a fresh kick, or eat it together with toasted bread!

Ingredients:
Basil - 100g, only leaves plucked
Salt - 1 tsp (or to taste)
Garlic - 1/2 clove, crushed
Pine nuts - 50g lightly toasted
Extra-virgin Olive oil - 100ml (92g)
Instructions:
Step 1:
Combine basil, garlic, pine nuts, and Parmesan in a food processor and season with salt. After pulsing together, slowly stream in the olive oil and process till emulsified (that means the sauce has come together)
Step 2:
Store in an airtight container, and refrigerate for up to a week.
Feel free to freeze it into ice cube trays and then store the frozen pesto cubes in a plastic bag or container. Store for up to 6 months.

Closing:
That's it! A simple easy sauce that doesn't require too much effort.
I found that the parmesan flavor was a little strong, so feel free to remove half if you don't enjoy having a strong cheese flavor.
The only time-consuming part would be removing the basil leaves from the stem, but don't let that stop you from trying out this recipe! Hope you enjoy it!
